> Richard Hilson
Richard has worked full time with Vet Services since 1991 and is now the company Managing Director.
He has a long association with farming, having been brought up on family farms in CHB, and has a particular interest in production animals. A focus in this area is flock and herd health issues, including all aspects of management and top stock performance. He is closely involved with many local farms through provision of animal health plans, advisory work and hands-on work- an enjoyable and rewarding mixture of vet work.
Richard has also been involved in several on-farm trials, notably the three year study into vaginal prolapse in ewes (The POP Group). He is also involved with several other industry initiatives and bodies such as Johne’s Management Ltd, the deer industry Advance Parties and facilitates discussion groups and Focus Farms.
He has served on the committees of the Deer vets and Sheep and Beef Cattle vets. Richard received the Alan Baldry Memorial Crook award in 2015, recognising a significant contribution to the production animal industry.
In his spare time he is busy with family or farms, or doing a spot of hunting.
