Vet Services provides orthopaedic assessment, diagnostic imaging, surgery and ongoing rehabilitation support for a wide range of bone, joint, ligament and tendon conditions.

Our Orthopaedic Team supports patients from throughout Hawke’s Bay and beyond, accepting referrals from referring veterinarians as well as managing cases from within Vet Services.

Meet Our Orthopaedic Team

Sharné Boys

Sharné has a special interest in orthopaedic surgery and continues to undertake ongoing professional development in this field. She provides orthopaedic services for companion animals, with a clinical focus on fracture repair, cruciate ligament disease, patellar luxation, and the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.

Sharné has undertaken extensive postgraduate training to further develop her knowledge and skills in orthopaedics. In 2017, she completed a Master of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery with distinction, followed by a postgraduate Master of Veterinary Medicine paper in orthopaedic surgery in 2020. She has also completed more than ten continuing professional development courses in orthopaedics across New Zealand and Australia, further developing her skills in surgical planning, fracture repair, joint stabilisation, and post-operative care.

Working closely with our veterinary, nursing, and rehabilitation teams, Sharné provides coordinated care from diagnosis through to recovery, helping patients achieve the best possible outcome.

Helen Crawford

Helen has completed multiple orthopedic based courses and regularly attends external practical orthopedic training courses including hip surgery, patella luxation, cruciate disease and advanced fracture repair techniques.

She regularly participates in online European based lectures focussed on feline and canine orthopedic conditions and enjoys learning from overseas specialists and being able utilise this knowledge to help local patients.

Helen worked for many years alongside Vet Services previous senior vets who looked after our orthopedic patients and still values greatly the local knowledge and experience they passed down. She is passionate about working dogs and loves seeing them return to work and function after what can be some impressive fractures and ligament injuries.

Nicole Lansdown

Nicole works within our Waipukurau team and has a strong interest in companion animal surgery.

Nicole enjoys diagnosing and treating a wide range of orthopaedic conditions and is passionate about restoring mobility and helping pets return to an active, comfortable life.

Tracey Wallace

Tracey has extensive experience in companion animal surgery and is an integral member of our orthopaedic team working based at our Waipukurau clinic.

She enjoys the challenge of orthopaedic surgery and helping pets recover from fractures, ligament injuries and other musculoskeletal conditions. She is committed to delivering high-quality surgical care while supporting both patients and their owners throughout every stage of treatment and recovery.

Sophie-Leigh Anderson

Sophie works in our Dannevirke Clinic and has a strong interest in companion animal surgery.

She enjoys treating a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, from fractures and ligament injuries to lameness investigations, and is dedicated to helping pets regain comfortable movement and return to an active lifestyle. She works closely with our orthopaedic team to provide personalised care throughout every stage of recovery.
