Protect the genetics you’ve worked so hard to build.
A great working dog is one of the most valuable assets on any farm. Years of careful breeding, training and experience create dogs that are reliable, hardworking and instinctive. If you’ve got a standout dog, why leave the next generation to chance?
Vet Services Hawke’s Bay is proud to introduce our new Working Dog Reproduction Services, including Transcervical Insemination (TCI) — a modern, non-surgical breeding option designed to help you preserve your best bloodlines.
Whether you’re planning your next generation of heading dogs or huntaways, replacing an ageing team member, or breeding to improve performance, we’re here to help.
Introducing Transcervical Insemination (TCI)
Transcervical Insemination (TCI) is a safe, non-surgical technique that allows semen to be deposited directly into the uterus using a specialised endoscope.
TCI can be performed using fresh or chilled semen and is an excellent option for preserving valuable genetics.
Benefits of TCI
- No surgery required
- Less stress and faster recovery for the bitch
- Excellent conception rates when combined with accurate ovulation timing
- Ideal for valuable working dog bloodlines
- Performed by our trained veterinary reproduction team

Why Choose Vet Services?
Canine reproduction isn’t new to Vet Services. We’ve been helping breeders achieve successful outcomes since the 1980s, with our artificial breeding programme originally established to support New Zealand’s racing greyhound industry.
Over the decades, our reproduction services have evolved alongside advances in veterinary medicine. Today, we work with breeders of working dogs and companion dogs, helping preserve valuable bloodlines and giving clients access to modern breeding techniques, including Transcervical Insemination (TCI).
Our reproduction service is led by Dr Annelise Enslin, whose passion for companion animal health and reproduction is backed by extensive clinical experience across a wide range of dog breeds. Based at our Waipukurau clinic, Annelise has undertaken advanced training in canine reproduction and is committed to providing practical, evidence-based breeding support for every client.
Whether you’re breeding your next top heading dog, preserving proven genetics, or planning your first litter, you’ll have the support of a team with decades of experience, modern reproductive techniques, and a genuine understanding of the value great dogs bring to the people who rely on them every day.
