WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM OUR NEW GRADUATE PROGRAMME

A Strong Support Network

The first years of your career as a veterinarian are exciting, but challenging – Vet Services new graduates are peered up with experienced and friendly mentors to support you every step of the way.

An experience tailored for you

Our two year graduate programme is suitable for any veterinarian starting their career, whether you want to practice as a Production Animal, Companion Animal or Mixed Practice veterinarian – each experience will be tailored for you!

VSHB Induction, workshops & Graduate Getaway

We know how important it is to build professional connections and to be able to share your experience with peers. In your first 3 months with Vet Services you will have an overnight stay and induction to the business. This will be a great chance to get to know the other recent graduates and to develop relationships which will last a lifetime. Throughout the programme you will attend a series of recent graduate workshops, dinners, and a graduate getaway.

Continued Personal Development

At Vet Services, we actively encourage and fund our staff to continue their education. As a new graduate you will have regular training sessions, paid CPD opportunities, and quarterly inter-clinic meetings with all veterinarians from Vet Services Hawkes Bay and Dannevirke to keep our team up to date. These are great opportunities to share information and sit down for a meal and a few laughs.

Lots of Social Sport and events

At Vet Services we work hard, and we play hard, with a very active social and wellness committee who ensure that there’s always sport and events to look forward to. We recognise veterinary medicine can be stressful at times and encourage all recent graduates to get involved in Surfing for Farmers, social sport, and our sponsored events in the community.

“Starting a new job is scary, especially when its your first full time gig but I honestly cant think of anything that would’ve made me feel more supported and welcomed than the new grad programme set up by VSHB!’

“I got a detailed schedule of my first three months, an assigned vet for each new grad to ask any and all questions for the first couple weeks and an amazingly supportive team who taught me tips and tricks not just with the medicine side but also for the computer programme and charging. On top of all this there are so many opportunities to get involved in the community like Surfing For Farmers and company sports teams! Looking forward to growing as a vet with Vet Services.”
